Out of all the places I have fished never have I saw a more well managed set-up like the Tellico River/Citico creek streams. Right in the south east part of Tenneessee in the Cherokee National Forest is a trout fishermans dream. The town of Tellico Plains is home to a lot of cool stuff. If you like Harley riding the Tail of the Dragon starts at the nearby Cherohala Skyway and boasts 318 curves in 11 mile stretch but for my money you take a right on river road and fish the Tellico River. From the time you turn on the road till you get to Turkey Creek bridge all you need is a fishing liscense and a trout stamp but past that all the way past Bald River Falls to the North Carolina state line you must buy a daily pass that is good to fish Saturday thru Wednesday in the stock area. The entire upper section of the Tellico about 11 miles gets stocked with 3000 fish weekly on Thursdays and Fridays and most of the fish are 10"-14" with larger fish possible and this is the reason for the Tellico/Citico daily permit. I will post pictures of a recent trip and show some fish and beautiful river pictures.
